MobileScan3D
The
new MobileScan3D system is an extremely fast, portable measuring
and scanning solution. Unlike a handheld or arm mounted scanner,
the system has the ability to automatically non contact
scan with full CNC control. By using an easy-to-use operator
interface, scanning operations are guaranteed to be quick and
reliable.
There are many portable scanning
solutions on the market these days, but almost all have human
influences on the actual measurement results, resulting in the
risk of inconsistency in measurements with the time taken to
scan, as this can cause fatigue to the operator due to the
manual operation.
MobileScan3D has been carefully
designed with these factors in mind, and incorporates a CNC
controlled 2-axis swivel head for automated scanning. By
combining the swivel laser head with the optional rotary table,
the system offers
full 3 axis CNC capability, producing a highly dense and
accurate point cloud with unrivalled speed and precision.
The system is based on three
interchangeable scanning heads mounted on a tripod. Each head
provides different scanning volumes and point density, according
to the part size and accuracy required - the heads are easily
interchanged within a few minutes.
The system is controlled via a PC
and a small portable controller. Scans are created and then post
processed using industry standard Geomagic software.

About :
Wenzel ScanTec, formerly Steintek,
is a privately owned company based in Bavaria, Germany, and is
part of the Wenzel Group of companies.
Founded in 1989, the company was
one of the pioneers of using optical sensors in coordinate
measuring systems. Since then, the company has worked closely
with major companies in the power generation industry to develop
and implement measurement techniques that are customised for
that industry's specific needs. The laser scanning systems offer
highly technical solutions to applications such as the
inspection of turbine blades and associated components.
The MobileScan3D is the company's
latest solution for portable 3D scanning and measurement of
objects for manufacturing applications, providing precise and
rapid measurement of components.
