Installation

Hardware required

The minimum recommended configuration is a Core 2 Duo type processor 3 GHz or equivalent, 2 GB RAM (3 GB for an optimum solution), a video card with 512 MB memory (nVIDIA or ATI type processor).

Approximately 600 MB free space on the hard drive is required for installation of Metrolog XG.

Windows compatibility

Metrolog XG 11 is Windows XP 32 and Windows Vista 32 compatible.
Under Windows XP operating system, you might be faced with software windows display problems. In order to solve that, it is necessary to disable visual themes (MtXG.exe properties).

The current release has not been tested with Windows NT.

Display properties - Font size option

If dialog box buttons and text are not displayed correctly, check the display properties in the configuration panel. Display should be configured as "Small Fonts" (96 dpi).

Metrolog XG will not operate correctly if the display is configured as "Large Fonts" (120 dpi).

Online help

The MTXG.chm file contains the version 11.xx online help data. In order to read such files, Internet Explorer 5.0 or better must be installed on your computer. This file is also available in PDF format, as an  MTXG.pdf. file. You will need Acrobat Reader or some other shareware to read the file.

Note that it is not necessary to set-up Internet Explorer as your default web browser.

In Asiatic languages, it is possible to have display problems. To avoid this, it is necessary to modify Internet Explorer options : in the menu bar of Internet Explorer, select View > Encoding > Auto-Select. Open again the CHM file.

Drivers

You will find, in the Metrolog XG directory, a sub-directory called Drivers. It contains system drivers that you must install in the following situations: 

Protection Key

Hasp: To use a Hasp protection dongle, it is necessary to install its dongle driver using hdd32.exe which can be found in the folder Drivers\Hasp, inside the software installation folder.
This driver is compatible with Windows XP, Windows XP 64 and Windows Vista.

NT-Sentinel: To use a NT-Sentinel protection dongle, it is necessary to install its dongle driver using hdd32.exe which can be found in the folder Drivers\NT-Sentinel, inside the software installation folder.
This driver is compatible with Windows XP, Windows XP 64 and Windows Vista.

Counting Cards

ME532: For all operating systems, at computer startup, the New Hardware Assistant must appear. Use the "Browse" button to point toward the specific location of the counting board driver. This can be found in the ‘Drivers\ME53X-Speaker’ directory. The installation process shall then carry on its own.
Once the card has been installed and the board setup launched, a message asking for  the installation of the Windriver device is displayed. You shall then accept the installation. A message will inform that the installation has been successfully completed. The ME532 counting board is then ready for use.
Please note that the ME532 counting card has been tested on last Windows Service Pack (Windows XP Service Pack2 and Windows Vista Service Pack1).

            Sound driver

NT-Speaker: To use software sounds via computer loudspeaker, it is necessary to install Windriver. Launch SetupWindriver.exe which can be found in folder Drivers\Me53x-Speaker, in the software installation folder.
