TubeInspect - The New Twist on Tube Measurement

TubeInspect is an optical tube measuring system, incorporating advanced technology for the high-precision measurement of bent tubes, the determination of set-up and correction data, and quality assurance of the end product. TubeInspect can entirely replace the traditional methods of measurement - hand tools, portable arms and mechanical gauge fixtures.

TubeInspect is a contactless measuring system that only requires the tube to be placed in an optical measuring cell. A bank of high-resolution digital cameras accurately measure the tube's geometry in only a few seconds. The geometry is reported in an easily understandable way by reporting deviation of the tube within its nominal sheath tolerance using colour graphics and reports. The measuring range of TubeInspect is up to 2,500mm x 1,000mm x 500mm, but this can be extended by repositioning of the tube. TubeInspect measures tubes with diameters ranging from 4mm to 200mm, and bends between 1° and 180°, and can also also have the added capability of measuring tubes with connected bends or with flexible parts. A tube's measurement can be compared with a previously recorded sample "master" part, with an imported CAD model, or with manually entered coordinate or push/rotate/bend data.

The system acquires the tube data with fixed high resolution digital cameras without the need for any special holding or clamping fixtures, and there is no movement of either the tube or the measuring device during measurement - as a result, sheath tolerance can be determined to an accuracy of ±0.1mm.

TubeInspect is the ideal solution for all types of tube bending applications, irrespective of size and quantity, as it offers a wealth of benefits to any tube manufacturer including ;

bullet

Ready for use immediately after digital nominal data have been entered into the system

bullet

Quickly acquires "unknown" tube bending data for reverse engineering of sample tubes and rapid prototyping

bullet

All component related measurements can be stored and analyzed with statistical process control programs

bullet

Can be directly linked to Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) bending machines

bullet

If tube measurements indicate that adjustments need to be made to the tube manufacturing process, corrections can be directly transmitted to the bending machine via the CNC program

bullet

Eliminates the need for numerous bending gauges and drastically reduces change-over time

bullet

Removes the need for calibration, adjustment and re-certification of 100's of gauges

bullet

As it uses optical measuring technology, the system requires little maintenance even when being used in a continuous production environment

bullet

Unaffected by surface texture or colour

bullet

Handles a range of tube diameters and sizes with no setup requirements

bullet

Fully programmable and easy to use

bullet

There is no operator influence on the measurement data - the same result, every time !

For smaller tube applications, the bench mounted TubeInspect HD can deal with tubes and wires shorter than 500mm and with diameters of 1mm up to 10mm.

The TubeInspect system is available in 3 sizes, according to need.

TubeInspect - 2500 x 1000 x 700 mm, sheath tolerance +/- 0.1mm

TubeInspect S - 1200 x 1000 x 700 mm, sheath tolerance +/- 0.1mm

TubeInspect HD - 450 x 400 x 200mm, sheath tolerance +/- 0.025mm

TubeInspect eliminates the need for numerous bending gauges and drastically reduces change-over time. The system can be directly linked to Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) bending machines. If tube measurements indicate that adjustments need to be made to the tube manufacturing process, corrections are directly transmitted to the bending machine via the CNC program, removing manual intervention by the operator and increasing setup speed to only a few minutes !
