Direct Interfaces

In most cases, we are able to connect directly to your existing CMM controller, with absolutely no additional hardware changes required. Our direct interfaces support most major makes of CMM, including Zeiss, Hexagon, DEA, Wenzel, LK, Mitutoyo, etc. Our technicians will be able to advise as to the suitability of your existing controller, both in terms of expected performance, accuracy and future serviceability.

Direct interfaces are also available for most makes of portable measuring systems, including Faro, Romer, Cimcore, API, Leica, etc.

Most direct interfaces have been developed in conjunction with the OEM, using drivers and DLL's developed by the OEM to guarantee performance and reliability.

Hardware Retrofits including Replacement Electronics

In some cases, it may not be possible to directly interface to an existing controller, often due to the age or condition of the machine, or due to the obsolescence or lack of serviceability of the existing controller. In these cases, we are able to supply state of the art replacement electronics including PCI counter cards (for all types of manual CMM), CNC controllers, upgrade probe systems, cabling, etc. 

Manual CMM's

Manual CMM's can be easily upgraded using the Metrologic ME532 PCI counter card. The card can be installed directly inside a standard desktop PC, and includes fully integrated 3-axis scale and Renishaw probe interface. The ME532 is suitable for use with most makes of scale system, and completely replaces the electronics of any type of manual CMM.

For larger horizontal arm applications and layout machines, the ME3007 DRO (digital readout) provides an independent XYZ readout that can be used alone or in conjunction with Metrologic software.

CNC CMM Controllers

For CNC measuring machines with old or obsolete controllers, we have a range of controller solutions available according to application and machine type.

The entry-level ME5009 LITE is ideal for smaller machines requiring a low cost solution with basic functionality. The system is an "all-in-one" compact unit comprising 3-axis scale interface, motorised probe head controller, power supply and servo amplifiers. The unit is quick to install and can be used with a PC standard joystick unit (e.g. Microsoft, Logitech, etc.) to further reduce the overall upgrade cost. Alternatively, all standard Metrologic joystick controls are fully compatible with the ME5009 LITE.

For more advance applications and larger machines, the Metrologic ME5008 is one of the most advanced CNC controllers available today. The system includes 3-axis scale interface, motorised probe head controller, power supply and servo amplifiers as standard. However, the ME5009 can also be upgraded to include ;

	a 4th axis scale and servo (e.g. rotary table, gantry CMM, etc.)
	integration of SP25, SP600 and SP800 scanning probes
	integration of Kreon laser scanning probes
	fully automated probe changing systems

The ME5009 can be installed on any make or model of CMM. All controllers are professionally installed by our Metrologic trained technicians, who have experience of retrofitting numerous makes of CMM.

Control Keyboards for CNC Controllers

A range of control keyboards are available, offering a variety of levels of functionality according to requirements. All keyboards include joystick control of machine movement, built-in display of coordinate position and other information, emergency stop, motorised probe head controls and programmable function keys.

The ME470 (single joystick) and ME670 (twin joystick) keyboards offer excellent portability due to their lightweight and small size, and also have the added option of Wi-fi operation.

The ME6700 is probably the most advanced control keyboard available for a CMM, and includes a full colour 1024x768 integrated display, enabling full control of the CMM software without having to return to the main PC system. All control keyboards are fully compatible with both entry-level ME5009 LITE and advanced ME5009.
