Welcome to the team Sam and Radu

Due to the growth and demand on the Metrology and Services side of the business, earlier this month we welcomed Sam Rawlings (below left) and Radu Rusu (below right) to the expanding MSL team.

Sam joins us as our new Metrology Services Account Manager, he started his career around 9 years ago, with an engineering apprenticeship specialising in CMM and 3D Scanning with Grainger and Worrall.

He then moved on to Magna (Cosma Castings) 4 years ago where he started his journey in the CMM Lab and then transitioned to working with their 3D Scanning equipment.

After 2 years he then moved into a quality engineering role and helped support and develop the 3D Scanning and reporting system for new business and products, in addition to other responsibilities to get the products from concept to full production.

Radu will be working in the services side of the business at MSL and joins us as a Service and Application Engineer.

His background is related to service for CMM machines, but in addition to that he has a strong will to develop his own applications skills.

Radu graduated from the ‘Gheorghe Asachi’ Technical University of IASI (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering) in June 2004.

His journey in the metrology world began in 2008 where he was employed by a small company;  Microtop Consulting and Service, which at that time was a Hexagon partner in Romania, in 2016 this company became Hexagon Romania.

His role was as a service & applications engineer and during 2008 to 2016 he installed, maintained and carried out calibrations and verifications for various CMM machines and metrology equipment in conformity with ISO 10360 & ISO 17025 standards. He also designed CMM measurement programs for various types of parts in conformity with customer specifications.

In 2016 Radu moved to the application side of the business and in November 2017 he had the opportunity to move to Hexagon UK to be part of Applications Team and remained there until 2019.

During this period he provided customer phone support for Hexagon’s software and products, delivered and installed measuring arms and designed measuring programs using PC-DMIS software.

For a short period of time, Radu worked as CMM Programmer for Grainger & Worrall, before moving to Cosma Casting, Magna International, as a CMM/GOM Operator in 2020. In this role he was responsible for coordinating parts, measurement activities using mainly GOM automatic and manual systems, alongside the CMM Zeiss machine with Calypso software.

We are delighted to have both Sam and Radu join our expanding team and are excited about their future at MSL.
