MSL Customer and Partner Day
Celebrating 25 years in business at The Silverstone Museum
The MSL Customer and Partner Day was held at the Silverstone Museum next to the iconic Silverstone F1 Circuit last week, where we welcomed our partners and customers to join us for the first in a new series of MSL events.
This years’ event took place to celebrate our 25 year Business Birthday and the day consisted of presentation’s and live demonstrations provided by our partners, customers and MSL staff covering the wide range of products and services we provide for our customers.
Andrew Tagg, Managing Director at MSL opened the event and welcomed everyone, providing an overview of the company today, the partnerships in place and it’s future direction.
Our first guest speaker was Iain Caville, Founder of MSL who spoke about the history and origins of the company, where it all began and looked back on the goals and successes over the past 25 years.
Marc-Antoine Schneider, Division VP Sales at Creaform – Ametek, then joined us on stage to discuss their 20-year history, exploring the evolution of Creaform’s Handheld scanners from the very first iteration of the HandySCAN in 2005 known as ALF to the latest HandySCAN|Black Elite Limited which has up to 12 microns accuracy, making it simply the best on the market today.
MSL have shared a remarkable 17-year journey with Creaform and were the very first organisation to market Creaform 3D solutions within the UK
The video above shows the MetraSCAN being demonstrated using a 1930 Bentley ‘Blower’, which is on loan to the Museum from the Spollen Family.
The RoboSCAN-R, MSLs Automated Quality Control solution also ran seamlessly as always throughout the day.
After the break Mike Duffield, National Sales Manager, UK & Ireland from Renishaw, Global provider of manufacturing technologies, analytical instruments and medical devices, provided the audience with an overview of their 5 Axis Technology discussing the speed of measurement that can be achieved for both new CMMs or retrofitting alike.
During the last presentation before the lunch break, Luke Mortlock and Simon Gibbs from Group Polar a proven provider of composite engineering, tooling, component manufacture and end-to-end control joined Majid Yaqub from MSL to present how laser solutions can help make manufacturing processes more efficient.
They provided a live composite lay-up and scan-to-project demonstration using the Creaform MetraSCAN and the Virtek laser projection solution, looking at the benefits of the workflow between Creaform and Virtek and the unique features of the Virtek solution.
During the lunchbreak we showcased a wide range of software and hardware solutions for DESIGN | MANUFACTURE | INSPECT and attendees had the opportunity to explore the Museum and see additional demonstrations taking place.
They discussed what nTop is, why it fits so well within the existing MSL product portfolio, Ricoh’s history and plans for the future, 3D Printing/Additive Manufacturing 101 and provided demonstrations of nTop workflows and case studies to highlight what nTop can do and how it is changing the industry.
The final presentation saw Majid Yaqub, MSL’s Virtek and AQC Account Manager back on the stage to discuss the AQC Turn-key and custom solutions that MSL has in it’s hardware portfolio, the software options available including Metrologic Group’s, Metrolog X4 i-Robot, Silma X4 i-Robot and VXSCAN-R providing a live demonstration of the later platform.
He also discussed the benefits of adopting an Automated Quality Control solution into your business, outlining Industrial Core Applications.
The day was a great success and once again we would like to thank all of our partners and everyone that attended. We had some extremely positive feedback and look forward to another MSL event in the coming months.
Keep posted to find out more about additional events this year and in 2024.
Feedback From a few of the guests that attended
“Thank you for a fantastic customer day yesterday.
Aside from the great venue, the partner presentations were really interesting and it’s good to see a slice of other industries.
The live demonstrations were second to none, hats off to cool, calm Majid for his slick live demos and Joe’s nTop software demo was also a highlight for me.
Thanks also to Steven Pockett for sharing his knowledge on VXmodel. I’m glad of the development in this area, making it more user friendly. As a CREO and NX CAD user any developments that make the Scan to CAD process smoother are a benefit.
Great to meet you and more of the MSL team, I found everyone very welcoming, approachable and down to earth”.
“I wanted to thank you for asking Ricoh to be part of the MSL event yesterday.
I thought the event was fantastic and we were really pleased to be involved in your 25 year celebrations, we really enjoyed the day”.
“Once again Happy 25’ to all of you, congrats for the successful event yesterday”.
